Blues players were forced to come face-to-face with their conquerors again at a charity ball on Sunday night

City stars could have been forgiven for being sick of the sight of Liverpool this weekend.

However the Blues players were forced to come face-to-face with their conquerors again at a charity ball tonight.

City’s stars were out in force at the annual fundraising event by the James Milner Foundation.

Milner, 29, spent five years in Manchester with City before leaving to join the Merseysiders on a free transfer this summer.

And he led his side to a shock 4-1 win on his return to the Etihad yesterday.

Manchester City 1-4 Liverpool

Keeper Joe Hart, Fabian Delph, Gael Clichy and Patrick Vieira were among the stars walking down the red carpet for black tie dinner at Event City opposite the Trafford Centre this evening.

However they were given an unwelcome reminder of the disastrous performance as they were joined many of Milner’s current Liverpool teammates at the spooky-themed event, ironically called the ‘Nightmare Before Christmas ball.’

Adam Lallana, who starred in the rout, the Reds’ captain Jordan Henderson and former Blue Daniel Sturridge were also among the guests at the event packed with celebs as well as footballers and their WAGS.

TV personalities such as Coronation Street’s Kim Marsh Emmerdale stars Jeff Hordley and Danny Miller and Hollyoaks actresses Sophie Austin and Nikki Sanderson were also snapped outside on the Red carpet.

Entertainment at the exclusive event was provided by Scouting for Girls, Lawson, The Wanted’s Tom Parke whilst there was a performance from comedian, and big City fan, Jason Manford and dance troupe Diversity.

The foundation helps encourages youngsters to participate in sports such as football and cricket as part of a healthy lifestyle and raises cash for causes such as the NPCC and Help For Heroes.
